SWITCHING IT UP …
Our region has some of the most amazing rooms to host a celebration in in the state of New York. The Canfield Casino, located in Saratoga Springs, has always been a favorite of mine. When Jamie and Jim were talking to me about their ideas, they had a few concerns. Because so many of their family and friends also had events at this location, they wanted to make sure that their wedding was going to be unique. I was more than happy to make suggestions on how they could achieve just that.
One of the things you cannot change about this location is the huge stage on one end of the room. If you have a band, it’s great, and if you want the dance floor on the same side of the room, even better. Jim came up with dancing in the center of the room. I loved the idea but wanted to push it one notch further. I feel having a dance floor defines the area where guests can get their groove on. J&J loved the idea too. This was the first time the Casino would be set with this configuration. Now that it has been done, we’re sure you will see it over and over again … me likey! I had also suggested LED lighting for the room to highlight the stunning architecture, and they loved that idea as well.
THE DESIGN …
I chose a maple dance floor for J&J, and they selected floor length cloths and shear pinstriped overlays from our prop house. We created floral arrangements, both high and low, as well as layers of candles for a romantic glow. The flowers were soft layers of pale colors. Jamie wanted peonies for her bouquet. I told her several times I would do my best as they normally are not available in November. As I was creating her flowers, I texted her a picture, and the happy tears were flowing. She got her wish for peonies and they were just as perfect as they would have been in May.

Katie O’ for the day of coordination and making sure everything ran smoothly. My boys at CPRC for the lighting and dance floor.
